Dogs in dreams

I found the following text on an American website whilst researching the life of Freud’s dog Lün ( more about that later).
“Dogs in dreams could symbolize a large variety of ideas and concepts, but mostly they are symbolic of the dreamer's defensive structure and may represent personal boundary issues. Carefully consider all of the details and the mood in your dream. First, if you have a dog, it may be natural to dream about him. We become emotionally attached to our dogs and we dream about them just as we dream about anything else that is important to us. Otherwise, dogs could symbolize loyalty and hard work. If someone calls you a dog, it is a negative reflection on your personality. If you are being treated like a dog, you are most likely being abused in some way. On the metaphysical level, dogs are consider to be the guardians of the underworld. Finally, dogs could represent the more basic or "animal" parts of our nature and some think that they specifically represent male energy”.
In my next post when I have done some more research, I shall try to give some concrete examples of dogs in dreams. Watch this space…
The caption in the cartoon says: " ... and then I found out my Mother was a bitch..."

Great cartoon! I've never dreamed about dogs although I did see in a dream years ago 3 black camels walking in a line outside my house.

In my book ( not Freud ) on the interpretation of dreams it says about seeing camels: "To see a camel in your dream, denotes that you need to be more conservative..." hmm hmm hmm.

This is what I've read about different dream symbols, including the dog and camel ;

Dog

This is a dream which usually shows which friends you have. Is your dog friendly, you have nice friends. If it is angry, you have friends who are not so good. Is it big you will have an influential friend. A wild dog shows that someone is trying to exploit or destroy you. Wild dog trying to attack you, and it is killed, you will manage fine. A guard dog symbolizes protection. If a dog barking friendly you will get recognition. If it is barking mad and you can have problems with the law. Dogs that fight means you have to mediate between the two friends quarrel. Are you afraid of dog is this always a warning against a bad friend.

Camel

A camel means you'll get help when everything looks hopeless. If you rode on a camel, you will be fine. It can also be a sign that you need to be more careful, or it can symbolize the hard work
