Shocking in pink

This picture was taken at the Milan summer 2008 womenswear week which ended on Saturday. Bold colours, high heels and an artist’s touch were the key themes and predominant colours were jade, yellow, turquoise and of course, pink. One reads about dogs being fashion accessories but this is ridiculous. In a recent survey of 80 dogs the poodle came second after the Border Collie as the most intelligent dog. The Afghan came last!Poodles come in various sizes ( miniature, toy, standard ) and colours. These range from black, white, red, apricot, silver, and brown. They also appear in parti-colour or multi-colours.Their country of origin is France although poodles can be traced to the times of ancient Egyptians. Poodles are retrievers or gun dogs and this explains the complex grooming. Show clips evolved from working clips which provided warmth and protection for major joints during duck hunts in cold water. The rest of the body is shaved for less drag in the water. They are elegant in the show ring, having taken top honours in many shows in Europe and the US. The poodle coat is dense and requires extensive care and a lot of grooming. The name poodle comes from the German word Pudel and is related to the English word puddle. This reflects the breed’s use as a water dog.

Obviously, an insult to its intelligence (the poodle's, I mean).

Good grief, a pink dog. Do they not know what animal cruelty is?! Poor thing.

I love reading this blog, I learn new things from almost every post.

Soon we'll have model dogs on the catwalk that will suffer from anorexia. We'll have to put a minimal BMI (Body Mass Index) on them...

Toscani will enjoy taking pictures of them for his next shocking advertisement!

I think people have always treated poodles as fashion accessories which is a shame since they are so intelligent.
The show cut does have its reasoning but I have always preferred the pet cut. But, unlike other dogs, their hair grows continually and they need cutting often.
Westies sadly were 45th in Stanley Coren's Intelligence of Dogs list.

My dogs self adorn at times: white feathers when I've been plucking geese or ducks, drying hay before it's been baled, fox shit when you want to take them in the car (yeurk), but a pink rinse? Never.

Yes, ridiculous - poor little dog.

The dog probably didn't mind the pink as much as we do. My neighbor who is a popular dog groomer used to dye her poodle Christmas colors around the holidays and he pranced and played as usual...just another day being groomed by his owner.

If poodles come in red, why didn't they use one of those? Do the French still use them on duck shoots?

WW,
This is what I read on the internet about dogs with red coats:
"There are two genetic mechansims by which dogs can be reddish in coat color. The first one is inherited as a recessive, "e/e" at the E locus which is the MC1R gene."
I hope you understand because I don't.
