Though best known to the public for his series of best-selling books on dogs, Stanley Coren is also a well respected scientist and Professor of Psychology at the University of British Columbia.
With the help of over 200 professional dog obedience judges, he ranked 110 dog breeds on the basis of their intelligence. According to them, the most intelligent dog is the Border Collie and the dummest the Afghan Hound.

I don't know if they are dumb but they sure have the whippiest, most painful tails I've ever come across; one swipe and you're scarred.
Nice post. Very informative.
He is a very engaging public speaker too and he taught dog obedience at the club I took my dogs to for training. He told me Westies were very stubborn dogs and he was absolutely right. But still the most good natured dog I ever had.
Oh, Westies were 45 on the list by the way, as I recall.
Love the hat!
I love that picture!
