Regimental Mascot

The Irish Guards were formed on 1st April 1900 by order of Queen Victoria to commemorate the bravery of the Irish people who fought in the Boer war. The Regimental Mascot is an Irish Wolfhound who is looked after by a Drummer (Guardsmen of the Corp of Drums are given the rank of Drummer), and leads the Regiment on all parades.

Irish Wolfhounds are wonderful dogs although you certainly don't see them in these parts very often.
Doesn't he look smart with his red coat against his grey fur?
