Zoos educate us about animals. Zoos protect animals from starvation, poachers, predators and loss of environment. So basically animals are save in zoos where they live in captivity. And then this happens. Recently a rare snow leopard got out of its enclosure here in Belgium in an animal sanctuary and the keeper made no attempt to capture it. He just shot it dead. He later said he was afraid to be eaten alive!!!! Such a pity that...I was shocked by this story too. Such a pity that a young and beautiful animal had to go that way but I suppose in the wild he would have been fair game for the lions etc. At least he had 2 easy years before his untimely end.
